Multi-agent orchestration

CrewAI

When a single prompt is not enough, CrewAI lets us build teams of specialised agents that plan, act and review.

The multi-agent question

Most real business workflows are not a single prompt. They are a short chain: triage, retrieve, decide, execute, verify. CrewAI gives us a clean way to express that chain as a team of specialised agents with explicit roles and hand-offs.

Where CrewAI earns its place at QwertyBit

  • Research-and-draft workflows. One agent gathers, one writes, one reviews. The final output is better than a single-call pipeline.
  • Risk-scoring engines. A classifier agent, a retrieval agent, and a writer agent collaborate to produce a report with evidence.
  • Marketing analytics briefs. Agents divide the problem — metric spotter, cause hypothesiser, narrative writer.

When we do not use CrewAI

Not every workflow needs multi-agent orchestration. A simple "extract these 10 fields from a PDF" job is better served by a tight single-prompt pipeline. We reach for CrewAI when the decomposition of the problem is genuinely useful, not because multi-agent systems are fashionable.

How we operate it in production

Every CrewAI workflow we ship comes with observability for each agent step, a cost breakdown per agent per run, and an eval harness that tests the full crew end-to-end. Without those, an agent team becomes an unobservable black box very quickly.
